About the Speakers

Bruce Gay

Bruce W. Gay, PMP has over 20 years of experience managing programs and customer relationships across healthcare IT, telecommunications and defense industries.


Currently a Senior Program Manager at UPMC Enterprises (the commercialization arm of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center), Bruce manages a multi-million dollar program to develop the next generation of Radiology Informatics systems. Over the past decade, Bruce has managed creative teams that incorporated UX Design & Design Thinking methodologies into their product development processes.

John Johnson, PMP, CSM, SPC

Mr. Johnson teaches graduate courses on Agile and Predictive management at the University of Maryland’s Project Management Program. His recent Agile Project Management series on EdX (in-production) was highlighted as the #1 Professional Certificate for massive online open courses (MOOCs) globally by the premier MOOC reviewer Class-Central.com.
He also serves as the Chief Technology Officer for Softek Enterprises LLC. Established in 2007, Softek specializes in evolving business systems using Agile, DevOps, and Cloud technologies to deliver working solutions faster for the government’s most critical IT challenges. Mr. Johnson works closely with senior Agency influencers to explore and develop solutions, more than doubling Softek revenue annually while leading multiple deliveries for clients and partners. He has 10 years of project management, systems engineering, and advanced analytics experience.

Prior to joining Softek, Mr. Johnson co-founded Second Nature Software LLC, a data science products company focused on Life Science Research. He helped design and promote their product “Rocketfish,” a data management tool that simplifies preparing data for analysis while automating data tracking and organization. Rocketfish is currently in an organization-wide trial at NCI and NIAID, as well as major universities in the DC Metro Area.

Previously, Mr. Johnson was a Senior Agile Project Manager with IBM, where he led multiple development teams building applications for the National Archives Records Administration (NARA). These applications were built on Amazon’s Gov Cloud (AWS) with cutting-edge cloud technologies to process, store, and search the hundreds of petabytes of government records expected at NARA by 2020. This project won “Project of the Year” across all of IBM globally for its success in project management innovation.

He also worked as a Management Consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton, where he led projects for the Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy from optimizing site investments and posture for Reserve forces to developing award-winning project analysis and portfolio management software to optimize billions inshore energy investments. Mr. Johnson holds a Masters in Systems Engineering and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland.

Christopher Harris

Christopher Harris studied International Business and Finance at the University of Tampa and obtained a Masters of Accountancy w/ an IT Focus from the University of South Florida. He applied his learning in the heavily-regulated banking and insurance industries, which, equipped him to understand the interaction of business processes and law and blend them in a way that yields productivity in daily operations. Later he moved to Northern Virginia and entered Government contracting, where he applied the same passion for results where he blended customer requirements, law and regulation, and business savvy to achieve uncommon results. He held an unlimited warrant from the Department of Defense, supported Pentagon officials with strategic sourcing advice and cost savings strategies, and spearheaded the implementation of his recommendations. As a Bytecubed consultant, he works with Government acquisition officials to develop innovative acquisition strategies against the backdrop of current law, policy, and agency processes.
 

Jason Dunn, PMP, CSM, CSPO

Jason Dunn has spent over 25 years improving project organizations, of which 20 years are in the Information Technology area. He has served many different roles on projects from Portfolio Manager, Program Manager, Project Manager, Change Manager, Business Analyst, Researcher and Tester. Jason has worked for many Fortune 100 companies to improve their overall organizational effectiveness.  As part of this work, he has stood-up PMOs as well as assessed and improved existing PMOs. Currently, he is the P3M Community Program Director at Freddie Mac in the Enterprise Program Management Office and is focused on improving Portfolio, Program and Project Management Maturity and Governance. He is a PMP, Six Sigma Black Belt, CSM, CSPO, and Certified ProSci Change Management Trainer.

Sean Eddings

Sean Eddings, Senior Producer and Agile Coach at Last Call Media, is a passionate agile-lean practitioner with close to a decade of experience coaching multidisciplinary technology teams. He enjoys helping teams design, visualize, and continuously evolve their own process to ultimately deliver business value with increasing predictability. Sean is a Certified ScrumMaster.

Jeff Dalton

Jeff Dalton is Chief Evangelist at AgileCxO.org, an R&D organization that studies Agile leadership and develops Agile performance models. Mr. Dalton is also President of Broadsword Solutions Corporation, a process innovation firm, where he also serves as an Agile instructor, leadership coach, CMMI SCAMPI Lead Appraiser, and CMMI Instructor. He is Chairman of the CMMI Institute Partner Advisory Board and is principal author of the CMMI Institute publication A Guide to Scrum and CMMI: Improving Agile Performance with CMMI. Susan Parente, PMP-ACP, CISSP, PMI-RMP, ITIL, MSEM

Susan Parente is a project engineer, consultant, speaker, author, and mentor who leads large complex IT software implementation projects, and the establishment of Enterprise PMOs. She has 13+ years experience leading software and business development projects in the private and public sectors, including a decade of experience implementing IT projects for the DoD. Ms. Parente is also an Associate Professor at Post University in CT. She has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rochester in NY and has a MS in Engineering Management from George Washington University in DC. She is also PMP, CISSP, PMI-RMP and ITIL certified, and is a CMMI and ISO 9001 Practitioner. 

Ms. Parente is Principal Consultant at S3 Technologies, LLC. Her company’s focuses on revitalizing projects through the use of risk management. S3 Technologies does this by teaming with clients, stakeholders and vendors and using risk management to deliver project successes. Ms. Parente trains and mentors project managers in the area of project and risk management. She has developed a methodology which she uses to implement risk management programs for both small and large clients and is currently completing her manuscript for a book on implementing risk management.
