About the Speakers

John Cable

Since joining the Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland in the fall of 1999, John initiated the graduate program in project management, an undergraduate minor, and the Center for Excellence in Project Management. He teaches courses in Project Management Fundamentals, and Managing Projects in a Dynamic Environment and is widely sought after for his seminars and workshops on a variety of Project Management topics. John is also chairman of the Project Management Institute’s Global Accreditation Center Board of Directors, a member of the Federal Government’s Project Management Working Group, and a member of the Science & Engineering Council of NASA’s Center for Program/Project Management Research. John is also a founding member of the International Project Management Educational Union along with Peking University and 6 other universities worldwide. In 2004 he coauthored a report for the National Academy of Sciences Federal Facilities Council on “Key Performance Indicators for Federal Facilities Portfolios”.

Bob McGannon

Bob McGannon specializes in strategic program and portfolio management and has helped set up project management offices on three different continents. He has 25 years of IT, project management, and project analysis experience, 18 of those years with the IBM Corporation. His management experience includes technology outsourcing, IT delivery measurement and quality, business analysis, and general project management. Bob has worked internationally while playing a major role in the development of international trade applications in use in the United States and Europe, and recently worked in Australia on a consulting engagement with Medicare in Canberra. He has managed project teams as large as 460 individuals, once serving as the IT delivery manager for IBM, supporting American Express.
Bob is certified as a Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute, an Executive Project Manager with IBM, and a Certified Project Management Coach for the Boeing Corporation. He also holds a practitioner certificate in the PRINCE2 project management methodology and has written papers and articles that have been published internationally.

Joseph (Joe) D. Launi

Pamela Davis-Ghavami is a Washingtonian with 29 years of federal service in the Information Technology field. She has a BBA from the University of the District of Columbia in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems Science, a Masters in Information Technology and Project Management from Capella University and is PMP certified. She enjoys learning new things about technology, sharing her knowledge with anyone who will listen, being an active member in her Toastmaster club and moving to the top of the adder of her Montgomery County Tennis league club.

Aimee Baxter

Aimee Richcreek Baxter has worked in the technology industry for over 25 years as a Project Manager and Technology Trainer. She has been a certified PMP since 2000. Currently, Aimee works at Macalester College, as Financial System Specialist, bringing technology solutions to the Business Services Office and the Macalester Community it serves. She utilizes her PMP skills every day from small tasks to larger campus-wide projects.

Myles Miller

Myles Miller is the CEO and Founder of LEADUP, LearningBreaks and SUCCESSHQ, international training and success development companies He is the radio host of "Myles of Success," and has over 30 years’ experience in the project management field, across multiple industries including retail, defense, state and federal government, international countries and hospitality.
