PMIWDC Provides PM Workshop to TransSTEM Academy Students
The TransSTEM Academy is a highly awarded program that prepares students for careers in the fields of aeronautics, engineering, computer science, and electro-mechanical technology by providing students with special projects, mentorship opportunities, internships, and advice on career pathways. Students participating in this program requested PMIWDC visit to share some insight through a Project Management Workshop. Michael Spead, PMIWDC’s AVP of Educational Partnerships was excited to provide support "I wish we had a great program like this when I was in high school. These students gain real world experience that will help them hit the ground running in college and in the workforce."
Cheryl Rodgers, the Director of the TransSTEM Academy, was happy with the outcome. “The students of the TransSTEM Academy at Cardozo Education Campus attended a very informative and engaging workshop on project management facilitated by Michael Spead, who introduced the critical role that project management plays in their everyday lives, using the college admissions process as an example. He emphasized the importance of developing a plan, assigning tasks, creating a timeline and managing time effectively, while engaging our students in an interactive discussion. Our students learned that project management is essential to getting the job done!”
Caronell Diew, an organizer of the event, added "the Project Management Workshop was a wealth of key information for project success. The workshop allowed the students to develop their awareness on how to use concepts and formulas to shape, execute, and manage any project or initiative successfully. The students will constantly refer and implement the PM learning experience throughout their education and career journeys. Project Management equals Project Success!”
