What counts as “Project Management Experience”?

“Project Management Experience” is the time that you have spent leading or directing projects. When calculating the number of months of experience, any month in which you lead multiple projects only counts as one month. When calculating the total hours of experience all hours spent leading or directing projects, including overlapping projects, can be counted.

How do I set up a testing location?

Once your application has been accepted by PMI, and you have completed the audit process* (if that applies), PMI will send you an email with an authorization code that you can use to schedule your test at a Prometric testing center. (You cannot schedule the test until your application has been accepted, and you have completed any possible audit.) The standard method of administration for the PMP and all PMI examinations is Computer-Based Testing (CBT). Prometric is PMI’s examination administration partner. You can access a list of their test centers and schedule an exam online at www.prometric.com/PMI.

We recommend that you schedule the examination as soon as you select a date on which you want to take it and at least three months before the expiration of your eligibility period.

*Approximately 20% of all applications are audited by PMI. The audit is strictly a random audit; nothing in an application triggers the audit. If your application is audited, it usually takes about a week of time to get through the audit process.

How should I prepare for the exam?

We recommend the following:

      Review the PMI-ACP Handbook.

Use the PMI-ACP Examination Content Outline to guide your study.

Review the current PMI-ACP reference list .

Enroll in a formal study course offered by PMI chapters or Registered Education Providers (R.E.P.s). You can also review self-study books published by R.E.P.s and other reputable training organizations.

Registration for the virtual training will close on 2 days prior to the opening mandatory webinar. Access to the virtual training website – http://www.pmiwdc.online will be provided the next day.
