PMIWDC

Fairview Park Luncheons

PMIWDC hosts a free monthly brown bag lunchtime meeting in the Fairview Park Complex, in Falls Church. This event is made possible by the generous support of Noblis, a nonprofit science, technology and strategy organization. PDUs will be available for Project Management Professionals (PMPs). The Fairview Park Community luncheons are free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. For security reasons, attendees who are not U.S. citizens or legal residents (resident card holders) must register at least 5 days in advance of the event and must provide a valid passport upon entry to the facility. The Committee Chairs for this program are Matthew Quinn and Crystal Grossini who can answer questions you may have. The PMIWDC staff can put you in touch with the event Committee Chairs.

About the Program

The PMBOK defines risk as ‘an uncertain event or condition that, if it occurs, has a positive or negative effect on one or more project objectives such as scope, schedule, cost or quality’. Known and unknown risks can impact projects significantly if not addressed. If risks are not identified, they cannot be addressed. If a risk costs $1000 to address early in a project, studies show that cost can increase to $300,000-$500,000 later in the project when hardware, software or both must be modified.
