About the Course

This virtual Agile ACP Course is intended to help participants prepare for the Agile ACP exam, and is taught by Mark Tolbert, PMP, PMI-ACP. Mark has more than 25 years of practical project management experience, has been teaching PMP Prep classes for ten years, and has delivered a number of different presentations on Agile Project Management for the Washington, DC PMI Chapter over the last four years. Mark has 21 years of service volunteering for PMIWDC, and was Trustee of the Chapter from 2009 through 2013. The course will serve as a review for experienced project managers preparing for the PMI-ACP Exam, and requires a background in project management fundamentals. This virtual content is equivalent in content to the on-site lecture style course we provide semi-annually.

This on-line course comprises of a collection of videos, sample questions, unit and final practice exams that educate and introduce the fundamental concepts and principles needed to successfully pass the PMI-ACP exam. Throughout the course delivery, participants will receive clear explanations of all materials covered in the seven domains of the Role Delineation Study (RDS) for the PMI-ACP certification.

A key advantage of using the virtual training approach is that students can do the training from home, according to their own schedule. However, just like for students in a traditional two-day class, it is best if the training is compressed as much as possible. Ideally, students should try to complete the training within two weeks: no more than one month!

Students will apply to take the PMI-ACP exam by completing their application on, and following the application process. After you receive notification from PMI that your application has been accepted, you will receive authorization to schedule your exam at one of the Prometric testing centers. This can be done at any time of year and at a number of different sites. In addition, it is helpful to review PMI's PMI-ACP Certification Handbook for further guidance on preparing for the exam (a soft copy is free for download with PMI membership).

This virtual PMI-ACP® Exam Prep Course is a thorough and comprehensive review of all materials required to successfully pass the PMI-ACP exam. For PMI's Agile Certification (PMI-ACP®), there is no comparable PMBOK® Guide (or Body of Knowledge) similar to what exists for the PMP® certification. Instead, PMI provides a reading list of eleven relevant books recommended for students to read before sitting for the exam, and a "Role Delineation Study" (RDS) that covers seven domains and numerous tasks and tools and techniques. So, in the two-day class, we will digest all the needed themes, topics, terminology and concepts addressed in these books, and the RDS, so that you are thoroughly prepared to pass the test.

The key learning objective for the PMI-ACP Exam Prep Bootcamp is to provide training that enables students to obtain a clear understanding of all materials and concepts to successfully obtain the PMI-ACP certification.

Course Objectives:

  • Agile definitions, concepts and perspectives.
  • Understand the format and structure of the PMI-ACP exam and formulate a personal study plan
  • Recognize the critical actions required to manage a project successfully
  • Develop a project management plan, identify the necessary subsidiary plans and elements critical for completion
  • Describe the key steps in problem detection and resolution
  • This course is intended for Project Managers and IT Professionals seeking PMI-ACP certification. It provides a focused, efficient approach to preparing for the exam and is targeted to project managers of all levels, project analysts, project leaders and project team members.
