About the Program
Applying LEAN Methodologies in healthcare is all about experiencing healthcare from the patient's point of view and working to remove steps in the process that the patient does not find valuable. Come and learn more about LEAN methodologies and hear from two Project Managers at ValleyHealth about some of the LEAN initiatives being implemented at ValleyHealth.

About the Speakers
Angie Barb, B.S., M.A., ITIL
Angie Barb, B.S., M.A., ITIL, is a Project Manager in the Project Management Office (PMO) for Valley Health System in Winchester, Virginia. She plans, leads, and assists with initiatives related to growth, technology improvements, and process design. Angie joined Valley Health in 2009 and has been implementing Lean methodology in her everyday processes since 2010. During her time with the PMO, Angie, along with Valley Health project teams, has implemented new, cutting-edge technology such as a new hybrid operating room/cath lab, DaVinci Robotic Surgery, as well as leading project teams to open new clinics and services.
Katie Partlow has an extensive background in healthcare dating back to 2001. She became a licensed Paramedic in 2008 while living in Florida. Katie and her family made the move to Winchester, VA in 2012 where she joined Valley Health as Clinical Coordinator for the Urgent Care of Martinsburg.
Katie is a leader and teacher by nature. She enjoys helping others understand both simple and complex ideas and processes. Since first learning about Lean, she developed training materials, standard work, and provided in-depth training to staff and providers to aid in their journey towards a high reliability organization. She firmly believes that robust processes and thorough training empowers people and organizations to be exponentially successful.
Katie has been involved in numerous projects throughout Valley Health and is also a Lean Facilitator. She has worked with providers, frontline staff, and executives. Katie enjoys applying LEAN Methodologies so much that she recently joined Management Engineering to further that work.

Announcing a New Local Community!
The DC Chapter of the Project Management Institute is pleased to host a new quarterly meeting in Winchester, VA. Membership in PMI and/or the DC Chapter is not required, however PDUs will be available for Project Management Professionals (PMPs). The presentations delivered are educational and informative to those with an interest in the field of project management. Each event will present specific learning points, unique to the presenter's area of expertise and the subject matter discussed while directly relating to improving the practice of managing projects and leading others.
