About the Presentation

PMIAA Impacts on Federal Acquisition

John Driessnack will discuss the potential impacts the Program Management Improvement and Accountability Act (PMIAA) law passed in Dec 2016 will have on the federal acquisition process. He will do this through the lens of his’s two PMI White Papers, Using PMI Standards Framework to improve US Federal Government Capital Investment Outcomes (2015), and Update OMB Circular A-11 and Capital Programming Guide (to be published in early 2017). The second white paper addresses specific recommendations for the new administration to implement PMIAA. The audience will be encouraged to note what they are observing within federal agencies.

About the Speaker

John Driessnack

John is a nationally known expert in Systems and Portfolio/Program management in the Federal/DoD/Intel acquisition environment. Background includes Global Broadcast System (GBS) Program Manager, other experiences as a military officer on major ACAT1D Aircraft, IT and Intel program(s), Managing Director of senior industry consulting groups, researcher in the economics of portfolio/program controls and industry structures, and instructor along with curriculum/program development and administration experience at several universities and companies. John has worked with Intel Community, Federal Agencies including FAA, NASA, FRTIB, DHS, SBA, as well with numerous DoD services/agencies. He has been certified as a DoD Level III Program Manager, Financial Managers, and Acquisition Logistician, as well as Industry Cost Estimator and Project Management Professional certifications. He most recently earned the PMI Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP) certificate. He holds BS in Industrial Engineering, MS in Economics, and advanced academic work in New Institutional Economics which he has published several journal articles. He is also published in defense acquisition journals, the PMI/INCOSE/MIT guide for Lean Enablers for Systems Engineering, a noted contributor on the GAO best practice guides for cost and schedule, and has authored parts of NDIA’s Earned Value guides. He currently owns his own consulting firm, Olde Stone Consulting, runs a 40-acre orchard, Olde Stone Orchard, and is an American University Professorial Lecturer and intermittent DAU Professor at Defense Systems Management College.

The PMIWDC Monthly Chapter event takes place on the 1st and 3rd month of each quarter at Le Méridien in Arlington, VA. Members and Non-Members are welcome to join us for the best speakers and networking the Washington DC area has to offer.

The presentations are educational and informative to those professionals operating in the field of project management and functioning in leadership roles in industry and government. It is also of great value to those looking to step into the field of Project Management and begin their certification process.
