About the Speaker
Mary Ellen Condon
Ms. Condon is a proven and recognized leader with a record of success executing program and engagement delivery in both the Federal Government and in the IT industry. She has held progressively more responsible positions in the Federal IT and Cyber Security arena across a variety of Civilian Federal Agencies. She was a founding member of the Federal CIO Council. She also chaired two significant cross agency initiatives, focused on improving program management and systems delivery. She chaired the GSA sponsored Trail Boss Program Management initiative to train and develop a cadre of proven program managers. As Chair of the Information Technology Resources Board (ITRB), she worked with OMB, GSA and an Agency’s “program of interest” to provide insights and recommendations for the program ranging from canceling to re-engineering their acquisition strategy. She led a cross agency team - experienced in the full life cycle of an IT based program from acquisition through operations and maintenance. She accomplished these efforts simultaneously while serving in senior IT positions within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Department of Justice (DOJ). Prior to leaving government service she led the DOJ oversight of all major IT Initiatives; established a Department-wide IT Portfolio Management Program chaired by the Deputy Attorney General; and established and ran DOJ’s first cyber security network and application program assessments including a formal penetration testing program. This latter initiative led to the development of security architecture and a formal assessment of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
