About the Presentation
With the London Olympics right around the corner, it’s a good time to consider the enormity of the project management challenges confronted by Olympiad organizers. From politics to power lines, the London Olympics project management professionals have to be at the top of their game to bring home the gold.
PMIWDC is pleased to welcome from Pcubed, Inc’s London office, Mr. Ky Nichols who heads up Pcubed’s Major Sporting Events practice, which brings together experience from the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, the 2006 Soccer World Cup in Germany and the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as well as his current engagement with the London 2012 Games.
Ky will speak on the lessons learned and best practices of major sporting event project and program management, and offer insight across the lifecycle from the start of the campaign to delivering the legacy after the event.
About the Speaker
Ky Nichol heads up the major sporting events practice for Pcubed, a program, portfolio and change management consulting organization headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan with offices throughout North America, Europe, Australia, and Singapore. In addition to his current engagement with the London Olympic Delivery Authority, Ky provided portfolio and planning assistance to both the 2004 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Athens and the 2006 FIFA World Cup hosted in Germany.
Nichol and the Pcubed team work with Games organizations to oversee program and risk management, perform assurance, and advise on senior stakeholder reporting. Ky completed his undergraduate work at the University of Kent and took his MBA from the London Business School. He has been in project management for two decades, honing his expertise through work on major initiatives for NASA, the European Space Agency, as well as organizations in the high tech, manufacturing, and transport sectors.
About the Monthly Chapter Events
The PMIWDC Monthly Chapter event is held each month, typically on the 3rd Monday at Fairview Park Marriott, in Falls Church, VA. Members and Non-Members are welcome to join us for the best speakers and networking the Washington DC area has to offer.
The presentations are educational and informative to those professionals operating in the field of project management and functioning in leadership roles in industry and government. It is also of great value to those looking to step into the field of Project Management and begin their certification process. Each event will present specific learning points focusing on building a talent triangle of technical, leadership, and strategic and business management skills, unique to the presenter's area of expertise and the subject matter discussed while directly relating to improving the practice of managing projects and leading others. At each Monthly Chapter Event certified PMPs can earn 2 Professional Development Units (PDUs).
