Besides enjoying great networking opportunities, chapter volunteers are also honored through our Volunteer Recognition Program each year. It's also a good way to earn PDUs if you are PMP certified and an active volunteer.

Robert EtrisThe Volunteer Coordination committee is seeking several interested active PMIWDC members to assist with the PMI Research and Education Conference 2010. The Conference will be in the DC area - Gaylord National Hotel & Conference Center from July 11 through 14, 2010. This will be a one-time event. PMI® Research and Education Conference 2010 brings together the audience of scholars, senior practitioners and students of project management and allied disciplines. It provides the opportunity for attendees to present and discuss new project management research findings and teaching methods. The conference will feature over 60 paper presentations, symposia and poster sessions that will cover various topics in project management research and education. To facilitate networking and preserve the sense of intimacy, the number of possible attendees is limited to 500 to accommodate the growing interest of the research and education community. The conference registration will be available on a first-come, first-served basis These positions will work closely with the PMIWDC Director-at-Large Chris Fristad and Bob Etris, VP of Volunteer Coordination. Molly Swenson• Identify potential program speakers for the Career Day program track

• Recruit program presenters for Career Day using the speaker database, contact with VP Programs, and other sources.

• Work with VP Membership and the Chair to line up a Keynote speaker within the event and Chapter budget

• Review the proposed program topics and materials for quality and applicability to project managers

• Prepare the program schedule for the day

• Coordinate obtaining the acrylic honoraria for the program speakers

• Coordinate with Co-Chair Registration to test the requirement that the program registration is limited to the number of seats available for each session

• Coordinate presenters’ equipment and room arrangement requirements with Co-Chair Logistics

• Participate and report out at the periodic progress and status meetings

• Recruit and prepare volunteers to support the program speakers on the day of the event

• Provide for introductions for the speakers on the day of the event

• Develop and implement a process that allows individuals who are not pre-registered for a program to attend only if there are seats available in the room.

• Recruit volunteers and prepare them to support the presenters and the programs on the day of the event

Nicholas CaramanicaThe Outreach VP requires a Chief of Staff to help with volunteer recruitment and volunteer management for the Outreach Committee. This committee has one VP and six Assistant VPs that run various aspects of Outreach, such as Educational Outreach, Community Outreach, Corporate Outreach, Chapter to Chapter Outreach, Virtual Community Outreach, and Strategic Alliances Outreach. With over 60 volunteers, this is the largest committee on the PMIWDC Board. The Chief of Staff will be considered an "Assistant Vice President" and report directly to the VP of Outreach. This person will create a human capital management plan that shows how the committee will recruit and manage volunteers, including organizational structure, roles, and responsibilities for volunteers under the Outreach committee. This person will also interface with the VP of Volunteer Management to ensure all chapter policies and volunteer management processes are upheld.Read More Apply

Catherine Sweeney"Serve as a liason with the lunch venues in either D.C. or Northern Virginia area. The venue liaison will maintain regular and periodic contact with the venues in their area (DC or NVA). The venue liaison will periodically visit each venue and take a few minutes to discuss their ongoing needs, and what the Chapter can do to help each venue to be sustainable. The venue liaison will provide a visit report back to the Lunch Venue Committee (a sub-committee of the Programs Committee, headed by the AVP for Lunch Venues). As needed the venue liaison may assist the lunch venues by coordinating with the Chapter and facilitating problem solving.
