THE TASC TOASTMASTERS CLUB

(Club 3130, Area 47, Division D, District 27, Region VII)

PMIWDC is pleased to sponsor a TASC Toastmasters Charter, which will make TASC the second Toasmasters club to enter into an agreement with the Chapter. The charter allows the club to form a committee to extend PMIWDC Chapter support to members who are interested in improving communications, presentation and leadership capabilities while working through the Toastmasters program. As a PMP you can receive PDUs for attending Toastmasters’ meetings. If you want your Toastmasters’ club to realize this same opportunity please contact Dave Reinaman at david.reinaman@pmiwdc.org.

The PMIWDC TASC Toastmasters recognizes the value of a non-threatening atmosphere of fostering our self-development efforts. The level of camaraderie is high and the atmosphere is cooperative and supportive. Meeting consists of three main activities:

  • TABLE TOPICS: Table Topics provide opportunities to practice impromptu speaking skills critically important in business and at home.
  • SPEECHES: At each meeting, selected members give prepared speeches.
  • EVALUATION: Each speaker receives immediate feedback in the form of evaluation by a fellow club member. Evaluations are constructive and helpful, and are based on specific guidelines provided in the manual for each speech.

Other important roles in each meeting include Toastmaster of the Evening (Chairperson), Timer, Grammarian, etc. Members take turns practicing their listening and leadership skills when they fill these essential functions.

Professional Develpment Units (PDUs) Project Managment Professionals (PMPs) may claim 2 PDUs per meeting via the PMIWDC Chapter
