PMIWDC Academic Scholarship
The PWIWDC Academic Scholarship was created to promote and further academic and professional development education in project management. It provides the recipient a total of $2000 for pursuing a for-credit education in project management at qualifying institutions: The scholarship is administered through PMI's Educational Foundation.
This scholarship is open to any DC Chapter member pursuing for-credit education in project management at one of the following institutions:
- American University
- George Mason University
- George Washington University
- University of Maryland
- University of Virginia
- Virginia Tech
Academic Scholarship Program - Deadline June 30
George Patton Memorial Scholarship Program
The Patton Memorial Scholarship program is open to any Washington, D.C. chapter member planning to attend a project management course provided by a PMI Registered Education Provider (REP), with the exception of members holding elected or appointed offices.The scholarship program was named in honor of the late George Patton, a former PMIWDC chapter president.
This scholarship program is designed to financially assist DC Chapter Member applicants in obtaining one of the following:
- Contact hours for non-academic education in project management to qualify for the Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) exam.
- Admission to a PMP or CAPM exam preparation course.
- Professional Development Units (PDUs) required for maintaining PMP certification.
This scholarship is offered in the Fall and Spring.

PMIWDC - UMT Scholarship Program
To promote and further academic and professional development education in project management, the UMT offered a non-academic scholarship to the PMIWDC membership that enables the recipient to take up to $2,000 worth of online UMT courses. UMT is accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) and by the PMI© Global Accreditation Center (GAC). It also is a PMI Global Registered Education Provider (REP) and a global leader in higher education in project management.
These scholarships will enable the recipients to take up to $2,000 worth of online courses at the University of Management and Technology to support their needs in academic or professional development education in project management. The scholarships are open to all PMIWDC members, with the exception of members holding elected or appointed offices.
