New Member Committee News

Member Orientation Session

Did you hear about the Orientation Class, sponsored by the Membership
Committee,  that was held on September 15th? Were you there? If not attend you missed an excellent opportunity to find out what PMIWDC can do for you, along with some great networking opportunities.

The biggest part of the disccussion was on the hundreds of educational and networking opportunities available to members. Linda Cantey, the Chapter President, presented the future of PMIWDC. Other board members, 64 other board members and volunteer leaders spoke at the sesssion, offering valuable information about the organization, networking and opportunities for earning PDUs and information on volunteering.

Overall, the pilot Orientation Class was a huge hit and will most likely be held again in the first quarter of 2010.

Keep an eye out for updates on www.pmiwdc.org/orientation and consider coming to the next class. Let us "put the pieces together" for you. It's  a guarantee that you will walk away with some small bit of information that will advance your membership and maybe your career.

October Tyson's Corner Dinner

Speaking of information, did you attend the October Tyson's Corner dinner meeting

You missed an excellent opportunity if you did not. There was a great presentation about the future of EVM, given by Wayne Abba, a valued participant in EVM material for the PMBOK, Version 4.

PMIWDC members who missed the dinner can still see the presentation and earn PDUs through our eView portal. Check it out at www.pmiwdc.org/eview

There were 9 employers who announced PM job openings from the podium, and dozens more working the crowd during the networking session.

If you had dined at a New Member table, you would have met 23 other new members. Each was met at the Meet and Greet area and given valuable
information about what to expect from the evening. At dinner each new
member attendee was given a chance to introduce themselves to other
attendees, Chapter leadership and the New Member Committee volunteers.

Upcoming Dinners

Sound interesting? You should attend the new Crystal City Dinner on November 4th, or the next Tyson's Corner Dinner on November
17 and find out how your membership can work for you.

We would be more than happy to host you and make you feel at home. Remember, even though the PMIWDC is the largest local PM network in the world, there are no strangers at dinner. Come see for yourself!
