Overview:
To promote and further academic and
professional development education in project management, the UMT
offered a non-academic scholarship to the PMIWDC membership that
enables the recipient to take up to $2,000 worth of online UMT courses.
UMT is accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC)
and by the PMI Global Accreditation Center (GAC). It also is a PMI
Global Registered Education Provider (REP) and a global leader in
higher education in project management.
These scholarships will enable the
recipients to take up to $2,000 worth of online courses at the
University of Management and Technology to support their needs in
academic or professional development education in project management.
The scholarships are open to all PMIWDC members, with the exception of
members holding elected or appointed offices.
Please note that this page describes the
PMI-UMT Academic Scholarship program, which is for students pursuing
degree credit. If you are not pursuing a degree, please apply for the PMI - UMT Nonacademic
Scholarship, which has different deadlines and qualification
criteria.
Application Process

Instructions:
Applicants should meet the following criteria, and should
provide the requested documentation:

Must be a member of PMI and PMIWDC. The PMIWDC Board and
volunteers who are directly involved into the evaluation of UMT
scholarship applications are not eligible for the scholarship.

Must be PMP certified or working towards PMP certification.
-
Candidates must submit the UMT Application form.
-
They should submit a resume no longer than two pages, in
12-point font, with a list of prior project management training, and
career experience. The resume must contain details of academic
performance.

They must provide a current picture and be willing to have
their name and photograph published in PMIWDC and UMT publications.
-
They should be prepared to promote the scholarship as
requested.
-
They should provide commitment to write an article for
PMIWDC publications about their UMT experience.
General Conditions:

The UMT scholarship is open to any PMIWDC member pursuing
continuing project management education except PMIWDC elected officers
and volunteer staff involved in the evaluation of applications for
scholarship.

The candidates shall submit all applications to the PMIWDC
office at 400 N. Washington St, Suite 300, Alexandria, VA 22314 by August 31st.
(postmark date).

This prize will be available to anyone globally, since UMT
provides virtual classrooms study.
-
The Scholarship Committee will evaluate all applications
and will decide which applicant will be selected.

UMT will review and approve the Scholarship Committee
recommendation, provided the applicant meets the qualifications spelled
out in this document.

The UMT decision is final. No appeals will be considered.
-
Successful recipients may not apply again.
-
An alternate applicant may be selected in case the first
person can not accept.
-
Unsuccessful applicants may reapply in a subsequent term.
-
Any recipient of this award who for whatever reason does
not proceed to register with UMT within two months will lose their
right to the scholarship, and the Scholarship Committee will select the
next candidate in line for the award.

If it is determined that no candidate is deserving of the
award, then the unclaimed award will carry forward to the following
term. In the following term, the Scholarship Committee will choose two
candidates for the award.
Candidate Evaluation and
Selection:

comprising three to five PMIWDC members and chaired by a member of the
PMIWDC Board.

Applications will be reviewed and scholarships will be
awarded based on the application submitted.

Scholarships will be awarded without regard to race,
color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or state of physical
handicap.

PMIWDC members holding elected or appointed offices are
not eligible for these non-academic scholarships.

Scholarship recipient(s) will be notified by February 28.

All decisions of the UMT-PMIWDC Scholarship Program and
its committee are final.
