About the High School Outreach Program

High School Outreach Committee

The High School Outreach Committee was formed to develop and manage an outreach program to inform students in local high schools about project management as an interesting and rewarding career. This is accomplished through formal and/or information presentations to students at the school facility and providing PMI approved literature to guidance counselors, faculty and the student body about the project management profession.

PMIWDC and the Educating Youth through Employment Program, 2009

PMIWDC this year supported SkillSource’s Educating Youth Through Employment (E.Y.E.) Program. The E.Y.E. Program is a non-profit project of the Skillsource Group, Inc. coordinated through the Fairfax County Department of Family Services that connects young people of ages 16-21 to professional internship opportunities and training to help prepare them to be leaders in the workforce of tomorrow.

PMIWDC Chapter helped local E.Y.E. Program in Summer 2008

PMIWDC took the High School Outreach Committee one step further – building a new relationship with Department of Family Services, Fairfax County, Virginia to reach out to young people to support and teach them valuable life skills – project management. On July 15th and 16th, PMIWDC High School Outreach volunteer, Kal Majumdar, taught project management basic skills to more than 40 young people as part of this SkillSource’s Educating Youth Through Employment (E.Y.E.) Program.
