George Patton Memorial Scholarship Program - Fall Award

The PMIWDC George Patton Memorial Scholarship is a scholarship intended to assist PMIWDC chapter members in funding continuing education coursework. The scholarship awards a maximum of $2,000 to one or more applicants, twice per year. If you would like to apply for this scholarship, please follow the instructions below. Overview:

The Project Management Institute, Washington, D.C. Chapter, Inc. (PMIWDC) George Patton Memorial Scholarship Program is designed to financially assist chapter member applicants in obtaining:

  1. Contact hours for non-academic education in project management to qualify for the Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) exam,
  2. Admission to a PMP or CAPM exam preparation course, or
  3. Professional Development Units (PDUs) required for maintaining PMP certification.

Applicants must select a course provided by a PMI Registered Education Provider (REP) and specify that course on the non-academic scholarship application form. Courses may be classroom courses or on-line courses. The George Patton Memorial Scholarship Program will award a maximum of $2,000 biannually (in the Spring and Fall) which may be awarded in whole or in part to one or more individuals. Sscholarships will be awarded based on the reasons for applying stated on the application form. Scholarships are taxable. The program is open to any Washington DC chapter member planning to attend a PMI REP course provided by a PMI REP, with the exception of members holding elected or appointed offices.

Instructions:

  1. Scholarships are limited to courses offered by a PMI Registered Education Provider (REP).
  2. Candidates must submit an Application Form to apply for the scholarship.
  3. Candidates must specify which course he/she plans to take and when, along with a description of the course.
  4. Recipients must pay for the course in advance and will be reimbursed for course tuition upon proof of payment and successful completion of the course.
  5. Application deadline is September 30; award recipient(s) will be notified by October 31.

Candidate Evaluation and Selection:

  1. The George Patton Memorial Scholarship Program committee will be convened comprising three to five PMIWDC members and chaired by a member of the PMIWDC Board.
  2. Applications will be reviewed and scholarships will be awarded based on the reasons for applying stated on the application form.
  3. Scholarships will be awarded without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or state of physical handicap.
  4. PMIWDC members holding elected or appointed offices are not eligible for these scholarships.
  5. George Patton Memorial Scholarship recipient(s) will be notified by October 31.
  6. All decisions of the PMIWDC George Patton Memorial Scholarship Program and its committee are final.
  7. With permission, recipient(s) will be listed on the PMIWDC website and included in an article for PMI Today.
