About the Executive Breakfast Series

Ted Leeman from CSM, Dave Muzio (our speaker), and Tom Bishop, the chapter VP of Finance at the 3rd Executive Breakfast.

The Project Management Institute’s Washington, DC Chapter added an experimental Executive

Breakfast meeting series to the learning opportunities it offered members in 2007. The Executive Breakfast series was conceived by the Chapter leadership and executives of The Center for Systems Management, the event sponsor, as a means of reaching out to senior executives with a stake in project management success.

The series was designed to put project management professionals and prominent speakers

together in a small group setting that allowed for a more conversational style of exchange than is practical at some of the Chapter’s larger events.

Attendees expressed appreciation for this early morning alternative to the Chapter’s many lunch-and-learn meetings and its regular monthly dinner meeting; and the “intimate” setting that allowed plenty of time and opportunity to talk with the speaker and network with peers.

Presentations

The series included presentations by

  • Karen Dahut, Vice President, Booz-Allen Hamilton
    “How Project Management Can Provide Value to the C-level Executive”;
  • Joan Knutson, Consultant and Member of the Board of Directors, The Center For Systems Management, on
    “Using Project Management to Enhance R&D Creativity”;
  • David Muzio, Principal, MCR, LLC, on
    “What Does the Government Expect of Project Management?" (PDF)

Future Executive Breakfasts

Due to the strong response from the initial series, the Chapter is considering making these events a permanent part of its portfolio of learning opportunities for members. However, no details have been finalized at this point.
