About the "Meet Your Volunteer" Program
The Washington DC Chapter ofthe Project Management Institute (PMIWDC) has recently started a 'MeetYour Volunteer' initiative to recognize the outstanding service of Chapter volunteers. Each month, another one of our many outstanding volunteers will be showcased here.
Meet Your Volunteer - Madeline Delahan
As the Deputy CIO and PMO lead for the Armed Forces Benefits Association (AFBA), Madeline is no stranger to the challenges of network operations and the delivery of enterprise-wide IT projects. Her academic credentials (MSCS California State University; BSCS University of California ‘the U”) and professional experience have served her well in both government and the private sector engagements.
After relocating to Washington, DC in 2000, Madeline accepted a position with Fujitsu Consulting joining their project management practice. An early Fujitsu client engagement leading a web content management initiative for the Department of Commerce International Trade Administration underscored for Madeline the value of having a PMP certification. Afterwards Madeline began attending PMIWDC dinner meetings to learn as much as she could about the project management discipline earning her PMP credential in 2002.
Friend, colleague, and PMIWDC chapter member Dot Johnson convinced Madeline to give volunteering a try; she was a key member of the 2008 Career Day and chaired the committee in 2009. Madeline has enjoyed volunteering with the chapter ever since. She currently serves as AVP Membership and Chair for the New Member Committee. The New Member Committee welcomes new members to the WDC chapter by conducting orientation sessions, hosting tables for new chapter members at the monthly Tyson’s Corner dinner meetings, and staffing the Meet & Greet area.
Madeline enjoys traveling and is planning a trip to Barcelona and Madrid in June. She loves gardening and duplicate bridge. A competitive athlete, Madeline completed the New York City marathon in 2009 (third marathon) and hopes to add the Marine Corps marathon to her list of achievements.
Meet Your Volunteer - Faye Ravandi
As an IT professional with Lockheed Martin’s Information Systems & Global Services (IS&GS) line of business, and a PMP in good standing not to mention an active member of the PMIWDC chapter since 2005 Faye enjoys her volunteer affiliation by serving on the New Member’s committee. She is also involved in leading social networking events in the always-popular Crystal City venues. Faye especially relishes working with other equally exceptional PMIWDC volunteers who share her enthusiasm for and appreciation of project management disciplines.
When she is not leaping tall data-centers in a single bound, Faye can be found hard at work in the gym, biking on the W&OD, catching the latest box office smash, or honing her photography or new-found golf skills. Rumor has it that Faye’s short game is on track to give Lorena a run for her money!
Meet Your Volunteer - Ping Oberst
A steward of the public trust and a student of leadership and
management, Ping’s currently assignment as IT manager for the US
Department of Justice (DOJ) Unified Financial Management System (UFMS)
Program Management Office is a perfect fit for her areas of
professional interest.
In this capacity, Ping oversees and manages all technical aspects of UFMS as it rolls into production. UFMS replaces five core financial management systems and multiple acquisitions systems operating across DOJ streamlining and standardizing business processes and procedures across all seven components of the Department of Justice, including: DEA, FBI, ATF, Bureau of Prisons, US Marshals Service, Office of Justice Programs, and Offices, Boards and Divisions (OBDs).
Ping’s passion for the study and practice of leadership led her to get involved with PMIWDC almost immediately after earning her PMP certification. Ping is a strong advocate for volunteerism and invests her time and considerable talents in planning and organizing, and communications for the annual PMIWDC Golf Tournament event.
When she is not leaping tall buildings in a single bound, Ping enjoys the more pleasant pursuits of history, art and music.
Meet Your Volunteer - Leigh Albert

Coming from a traditional voice communications background Leigh is currently expanding her horizons in the internet arena as a recent addition to the Neustar team. Neustar is world renown as a universally trusted intermediary delivering addressing, interoperability, and infrastructure services worldwide to communication service providers, enterprises, associations, governments and regulatory agencies.
Prompted by her desire to improve her professional skills and expand her well established qualifications in Product and Proposal Management, and Process Reengineering via professional certification as a PMP, Leigh joined PMIWDC in 2009. Almost immediately (while diligently studying for and earning her PMP certification – Congrats Leigh!) she sought out opportunities to get involved as PMIWDC volunteer.

Meet Your Volunteer - Evangeline Weber
Hailing originally from Manila, Philippine Islands, Evangeline (Vanj to her friends) is a recognized subject matter expert in visual media. Her repertoire of professional skills includes graphics design, web design, animation, video production and editing, and marketing and communications. A card-carrying member of the PMIWDC since May of 2009, Vanj recently visited the USA for the most romantic of reasons; her very own wedding in Reston, VA. Congratulations to you and yours Vanj!
Although still basking in newlywed bliss, Vanj is pressing on with her entrepreneurial aspirations and is currently in the process of establishing her own business – Panache Media; a professional services firm catering to Project Management, Communications, Marketing, and the Visual Media markets. Vanj expects her venture to be fully operational by January 2010. In parallel to her zeal for business Vanj is pursuing the coveted PMP certification and hopes to earn her credential before the end of the third quarter 2010.
Meet Your Volunteer - Jayesh Datar

As a PMI certified PMP Jayesh actively contributes to the maturation of project management disciplines at Fannie Mae, a government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) chartered by Congress with a mission to provide liquidity, stability and affordability to the U.S. housing and mortgage markets.
His keen interest in project management and the contributions PMIWDC makes toward promoting the profession of Project Management led Jayesh to join the Chapter over two years ago, His initial involvement was as a regular Chapter meeting attendee where he was persuaded to get more involved ultimately volunteering and contributing as a key member of the successful 2009 Career Day roll out team.
Jayesh is a huge sports fan and you will find him taking in all the action on ESPN, NFL, MLB, NH [you name it!] when he is not busy at Fannie or keeping up with industry trends in project management.
