The bi-monthly Volunteer Leadership Sessions are geared toward fostering the development of interested future volunteers and leaders of the PMIWDC Chapter.

About the Program

PMI chapter leaders have a wide range of responsibilities and encounter many challenges as they balance the needs of the members and the requirements for governing a not-for-profit organization.

PMI Component & Community Relations Governance Committee member, Deena Gordon Parla, PMP, will speak about some frequently encountered challenges and how to better mitigate and address these challenges through current and proposed tools and resources.

About the Speaker

Deena Gordon Parla has been a volunteer leader on PMI MAGs, chartered to deliver results across PMI globally:

  • GOC/C&CR Governance Committee
  • Component Services and Community Development MAGs, Cross-MAG communications team
  • Community Transformation Project, Virtual Project Team Lead

She has also been a presenter at PMI Global LIMs:

  • EMEA 2010 – Series of Association Governance workshops, focusing on Common challenges and grievance/dispute resolution
  • NA 2008 – Roll-out of reporting under the SAPR process, update on shared services initiative
  • EMEA 2006, 2007: Capabilities and benefits of CS-Toolkit, leveraging GOC provided component services
  • LA 2006: Roll-out of Chapter with Branches community model, coach leaders on applicability, benefits and implementation considerations
