About the Presentations

Turning Around Failing Projects

One of the most sought after topics for project managers is how to deal with failing projects or even how to turn them around. When industry figures show a variation of 60-82% of projects failing, it is easy to see why so many seek this information. In typical Rick Morris style, this session will not be full of theories or textbook options. Instead, it will be an introspective look into actual experiences and a telling of true lessons learned. Rick made a name for himself at Fortune 100 companies for his ability to quickly analyze, understand, and put plans in motion to turn around failing projects. Some of the stories will include:

  • Dealing with difficult Sponsors
  • Dealing with an unresponsive and unsupportive direct manager
  • Turning around software development as well as IT Services projects
  • Dealing with ethical/moral issues

Rick will also discuss some of his personal failures in trying to bring a project back to life. As in every situation, there are times when a project will simply fail. Rick will discuss some of the difficult lessons that he learned in some of the most trying times of his career.

Project Teams Unstuck!

Is your team consistently performing at championship levels? Are there “disconnects” between team members? Are there team members that you just don’t understand? Why do team members act and react the way that they do? Culture and behavior norms are being challenged at an all time high in the global workplace.

This webinar will apply easy yet proven team models to move diverse teams forward to get your own team unstuck!

You will discover proven strategies guaranteed to not only cope with these team challenges but to take positive steps to propel your team toward championship performance, saving both time and money. Bring your team and get unstuck! These challenges are pervasive in teams from the aging of the baby boomers to the culture of the Gen Xers as well as from Gen Y moving into strong contributor and leadership roles in companies. Very often these team challenges result in frustration, conflict and diminished team performance Multi-cultural, multi-national and cross functional teams, whether intact or virtual, are growing at significant rates and challenging traditional styles and modes of behavior and communication. Cross functional teams are demanding that barriers be removed, department silos be blown up and results achieved.

The entertaining and knowledgeable facilitator will address challenges of varying types of teams. Differing scenarios will be described and analyzed with interactive, entertaining attendee participation. Accomplishing team results through strong decision making and commitment to agreed upon behaviors and goals will provide definite takeaways to get your teams unstuck!
