About the Program
"Networking at its Best"
Learn the rules and tools for making great connections in a variety of settings and across cultures. Make strategic use of your networking time, find resources, get more visible, and attract opportunity. In this presentation , you'll learn how showing character and competence makes people want to build their relationships with you. You'll learn how to:
- Advance through the 6 stages in any relationship
- Remember names — and teach them yours
- Answer "What do you do?" in a way that shows your character & competence
- Steer small talk to uncover resources and opportunity
- Teach people how to use your expertise, what to count on you for
- Become the natural and only choice when opportunity arises
- Know what to do and say in a variety of professional situations
- Penetrate the "inner circle" in the groups you join
- Re-connect, follow up and stay in touch for long-term mutual benefit
About the Speaker
Jim Wylde
Jim Wylde is an Associate of Contacts Count, the premier consulting and training company specializing in business and professional networking. He is a recognized expert on networking and business with 16+ years' experience in the multilateral development finance community. He holds a Masters degree in Latin American Studies and International Development from The American University, Washington, DC, and Certificates in Leadership Coaching and Organization Development from Georgetown University. In addition, Jim has served as an adjunct professor at George Mason University, teaching the course "Managing in a Global Economy." He is proficient in Spanish and has lived in Costa Rica and France.
About Skyline Luncheons

All Skyline luncheons are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. They begin at 11:30am with a 30 minute unstructured networking session. At 12:00pm, after a short introduction and after we've dealt with some administrative matters, the presentation begins. The presentation ends at 1:00pm.

From Tyson's Corner:
- Take Route 7, Leesburg Pike, for about 7 miles and turn right onto South George Mason Drive (just after the entrance to the Target parking lot).
- Make a right at the second intersection, or parking lot entrance, and drive up a ramp alongside the building. Turn right at the 4-way Stop sign. Pay visitor parking is on the other side of the building at that intersection.
- Walk across the courtyard to the left end of the set of offices (building 5109, also known as Skyline 6). Take the elevator to the 8th floor.
From Washington DC or National Airport:
- Take I-395 South towards Richmond.
- After the Glebe Road and Quaker Lane exits, take Exit 5 for Route 7, King Street, West. You will go through 10 traffic lights that are very close together.
- Turn left onto South George Mason Drive. Skyline Tower is the 26-story light blue glass building.
- Make a right at the second intersection, or parking lot entrance, and drive up a ramp alongside the building. Turn right at the 4-way Stop sign. Pay visitor parking is on the other side of the building at that intersection.
- Walk across the courtyard to the left end of the set of offices (building 5109, also known as Skyline 6). Take the elevator to the 8th floor.
From Dulles Airport:
- Take the Washington Dulles Access Road towards Washington.
Take 495 South towards Richmond - After passing exits for Tyson's Corner, I-66, Route 50, Braddock Road and I-95 South, take I-395 North (left exit) towards Washington.
- Take Exit 5, King Street, West. You will go through 10 traffic lights that are very close together.
- Turn left onto South George Mason Drive. Skyline Tower is the 26-story light blue glass building.
