A presentation by Tom Sheives, PMP, PhD about how to Unlock Your Right Time, Right Place, and Right Opportunity from his book “Opportunity Unstuck”. This presentation shows how PMs can get project teams and management team unstuck, and move projects forward!

A presentation by the PMIWDC AVP of Chapter-to Chapter Outreach, Efrain Pacheco, PMP, about the lessons learned while managing virtual global teams and managing projects locally in different parts of the world. This presentation goes beyond a discussion on the importance of cross-cultural knowledge, including discussions on the process necessary to be successful in multi-cultural virtual team environments and projects managed outside the U.S.
About the Presenters
Tom Sheives, Part-time Faculty, The University of Texas at Dallas and Executive Director, Business Development, True Solutions, Inc., Dallas, Texas, has been a technical leader, business manager, project manager, management consultant and coach with over 30 years experience in a broad range of product development and systems engineering disciplines including software, electronics, and mechanical systems. He has demonstrated proven success in building project teams, product development teams, process improvement teams and systems integration teams in industries which include product development, manufacturing, and systems integration of automation systems, information technology, wireless telecommunications, oil exploration, and defense guidance systems. He has led the effort in establishing a project office and has developed and installed project management processes and methodologies including guidelines, templates, and checklists.
Efrain P. Pacheco, PMP, has experience managing projects and programs in wide variety of organizations worldwide, such the US Federal Government, Fortune 500 companies, and non profit organizations. He is currently working at the Department of Justice as a Senior Program Manager. He is honored by the lessons and guidance taught by friends and colleagues that he meets during his assignments. Originally from Ecuador, he emigrated to the United States in 1979, and has since managed global virtual teams and technology projects throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas.
