About the Program
Successful Event Planning through Project Management
Individuals and organizations are constantly involved with special event projects at work and in the community. "Successful Event Planning through Project Management" focuses on applying classic project management principles and tools to the planning process for special events. Whether you manage a special event, a project within your organization, or your company's support for a community event, this presentation can be widely applied and will be of interest to project managers.
The presenter relates his experience as Director of the Army Ten-Miler (ATM), a $2.2 million business project with 30,000 participants, 1,200 volunteers, 50 contractors, 15-18 commercial sponsors, and up to 17 team members. Key stakeholder agencies include the U.S. Army, Pentagon, National Park Service, Washington, DC, METRO, VDOT, and Federal, State, and Municipal Police Agencies. The Army's premier running event boasts a record 17 consecutive years as the largest 10-mile race in America.
