Smart communications practices are critical for a successful project. Unfortunately, communications teams are often viewed solely as being in the business of publishing information, pushing information out into a marketplace or an organization. The truth is that truly effective communications focuses on persuasion (traditionally referred to as rhetoric): convincing an audience to follow a project’s new policies, buy a new product, or change their daily behavior. This presentation will cover the basics of rhetoric and the real-world communications activities needed to persuade an audience, and provide project managers with a framework for integrating effective communications into their own project plans and strategies.

Christopher Hamilton holds an MA in International Relations and Economics from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC and a BA in English from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Mr. Hamilton is currently a consultant with M Squared Strategies, a Washington, DC based management consulting firm. He is responsible for providing communications strategy and organizational development support to clients in the Federal Government. Before joining M Squared, Mr. Hamilton was a privacy and communications consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton.

Mr. Limon is currently employed by the National Weather Service as the Chief Technology Officer within the Office of the Chief Information Officer.
