A videocast of this event is available to PMIWDC members only.
About the Program
Project Management “Best Practices” abound. There are hundreds of books, reference materials, academic resources, and consultancies available to help. A simple search on the internet yields dozens of models and methods to improve your Project Management effectiveness.
Given that, why do some organizations still struggle to apply the most effective Project Management techniques and practices consistently? Many companies and government agencies spend millions of dollars in the development of project management processes, templates, and tools, based on industry “Best Practices.” The challenge in gaining a return on those investments isn’t necessarily based on the quality of the methods themselves, but in the consistent and effective use of them across your organization.
How do you drive high rates of adoption and real world application of best Project Management methods in your organization? In this presentation, Marybeth Wootton, Vice President of Performance Excellence at BAE Systems, will discuss how to:
- Promote adoption and proliferation of a Project Management Methodology across a large, global organization
- Overcome organizational (and human) obstacles, and to change behaviors among a large and very diverse community of Project Managers
- Get the value out of using industry Best Practice methods and tools
Ms. Wootton will address these ideas from the perspective of her current experience building and implementing a Project Management Methodology for services within an operating unit of a $31 billion global company, and from her more than 15 years as a project manager and consultant at methodology-based consulting firms.
