A Piece of the Pie profiles four success stories in the Washington, DC area and outlines the program's growing business opportunities and resources made available for the economically disadvantaged. Authors Peter Fretty and Shelton Rhodes bring an inspiring story of how dedicated entrepreneurs, through determination and perseverance, were able to successfully achieve their goal of running a business. The book also examines how the 8(a) program, and others like it, can give an economic boost to neighborhoods and communities by creating jobs that employ highly skilled individuals.
