Session Notes

Course Content:

The classes are intended to help students prepare for the CAPM exam, and are taught by PMIWDC instructors, who have years of practical project management experience. Those wishing to attend the classes should already have a background in project management fundamentals. This course is not intended to prepare students for the Project Management Professional (PMP) exam.

Course Structure:

The review courses are structured according to the PMBOK Guide knowledge areas, with a full-day review of the five phases of the project life cycle. The order of the topics to be presented, as well as the designated instructors, may change.

Course Materials:

Students who register for the course will be provided with a student manual containing copies of the slides used in the course. Each registrant will also receive a copy of PMIs A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, Third Edition (PMBOK Guide).

Parking:

The closest parking is available at the daily GMU rate in the Parking Deck, Sandy Creek. Free parking is available at different locations around the campus.

Additional Considerations:

This course provides the 23 contact hours necessary to qualify as a CAPM exam candidate.

This course is intended to reduce the overall hours of study required to pass the CAPM exam. Please register/qualify to take the exam by completing the PMI Global Operations Center (GOC) registration form available on the PMI website.

After you receive notice from PMI Global Operations Center of your qualification to take the exam, Prometric will administer the PMP exam on a date and time you arrange. This can be done at any time of year and at a number of different sites.

Additionally, it is helpful to review PMIs CAPM Certification Handbook (PDF) for further guidance on preparing for the exam.
